Harry Potter in my life

I am proud to sat that I am one among the million others hit by the 'Potter mania'. I don't really remember when I started reading it with great zeal. When my aunt got me the first book in the series, I remember reading it till Harry eats a chocolate frog, that was jumping and moving before he consumed it.

I felt so awkward. I usually detest reptiles a lot. Yes,yes frog is an amphibian. Added to my 'detest list' now :P . I didn't touch the book after that. And I still don't remember when I took it again. Actually my sister read it first and asked me to read. We both share a good deal of interest in reading. After she suggested me to read it again, I took it but not with much interest again.

But as I went on reading, I couldn't stop myself. Forgot food, rest, everything and read it with great fervor. Harry Potter entered my life that day. :)

Each part in the series was getting over little earlier than the previous. Me and my sister liked it so much that we started influencing my mom and bro as well. They too started reading it. Harry Potter entered our home as well. :) :)

We started discussing on the characters, and about the next part and movie to be released. And at one point of time, there were no conversation other than Harry Potter.

I went a little above that(as usual :P ) I usually like pencil boxes and kid's stuff a lot. I started collecting HP stuff - pencil, pen, scale, eraser, file ,blah, blah, blah. I even made a wand out of a stick and used to chant so many spells. :)

We used to get up very early on days when HP movie and book is getting released and switch on the news channel to get the hype inflicted. Entire day will be filled with excitement.

And my favorite character was and still remains to be Sirius Black. I like him so much to the extent that I was shedding tears for a long time after reading his death in 'The order of phoenix'.

So much excitement and so much hype every time and just like the first time. Now that it's all over, feel like missing a part of my life. :(

Friends are suggesting me to read Lord of the Rings series. Don't know why but not getting interest to read. Maybe I should give a try.

Whatever the case, cant deny one fact. Miss u lots Harry Potter :( . Hoping to see you back in another series.

Who am I? I am a S/W Engineer

Being into India's leading Profession, I cannot really decide whether I am proud and happy to be where I stand now.

3 Years of experience in IT.

I am looking back to see what I have gained and what I lost. What if i have the chance to relive my years once again. Will I choose IT as my career again?

My answer is definitely 'maybe'. Its not a bad job after all. If you are not into IT after 4 years of engineering, it would seem a crime infront of the relatives. Also, it gives a good feel factor when you get into IT after engineering.

You get to meet loads of people from almost all parts of the country at once when you join. And when you get into project, you get to meet people across the globe. You get paid for learning new technology stuff and implementing those, not to forget the sudden change in the lifestyle and attire.

Attire needs a special mention actually. As a 'conservative' gal from madurai, I thought dresses just meant salwars and saris. Now jeans, kurtis, western formals, leggings, tees - I have tried quite a few to know dresses mean much more :)

Also, you get posted anywhere you may not have even thought of. I am happy to have come back to Tamilnadu finally after 9 months at mysore, a year at hyderabad and a year over at bangalore.

I have been in 3 different customs.(now folks, pls dont argue mysore and bangalore have the same customs :) ) So I have the option now to choose what I like the most and get settled there.

But did I do that? No. I wanted to come to chennai to stay close to my friends. Now thats a diff story. Will share in another blog. :P

Lets comeback to the story. Everything is fine. Reading it back, whatever I wrote, it makes me feel I am at safe hands and IT is good. But is it really so?

Spending 9+ hours at office, am I happy at whatever is happening around. Learning and meeting people. I have to say no. the foremost thing to make me say this is lack of physical activity which makes me feel bloated, not to forget the occupational hazards, neck and back pain.

3 hours of travel, 9+ hrs at office and cooking and cleaning at home. Will I be little free if I choose something other than IT.

Answer is again maybe. I think I should change the name of my blog to maybe. :P

Now I dont have a clue on why I am sharing this with you all. Confusion, I guess is yet another occupational hazard in IT.

Do I like my job? Am I happy? Am I cribbing? Whats the reason to share this thought in my blog.

I dont know. I am confused.

Who am I? I am a S/W Engineer. :) :(

Comments welcome.

Chennai & Me

Have you ever heard of someone quitting a job at bangalore and coming to chennai in the month of april to join another?

Hello, meet me. When everyone rushes to cool elevated spots to escape the prongs of our supreme power, the sun, I came to chennai from Bangalore.

Now pls dont think I like being different and getting involved in and experimenting new stuff. I am not. I am an ordinary gal from madurai, having completed Engineering at madurai Thiagarajar college of engineering and passing out as one among the toppers(can't help showing off :) )and 2 years and 5 months with Infosys finally landed up with TCS Chennai.

After landing bag and baggage at Tambaram bus stand from the so comfortable and cool KPN A/C volvo at 9 PM, I had the confusion whether its still afternoon with the darkness clouded. Laptop sliding at one end, backpack weighing me down and a bigg trolley to roll over, I was cursing myself to have packed a lot.(Actually, I didnt pack half the things I thought of initially).
Autowallas greeted me with the very famous chennai tamil asking me where to go. Somehow managed to reach my uncle's place.

I never thought 6 AM would be so hot. I was bathing, no rather soaking the entire day in perspiration. Had to go to TCS office to do some pre joining formalities. Joined TCS the next day at Sholinganallur.

It was a warm welcome after the hot start at chennai. Second day of induction was going on smooth till they announced me to go to Chennai one office at thoraipakkam.

People always wanted me to get me out of my comfort zone. :( Had to step out in the hot sun and went in search of thoraipakkam.

Was it left/right from Sholinganallur? How far from here? No clue at all. Found someone from my batch planning to go there and joined them. Reached there finally and to my dismay, they asked me to go to Siruseri. Again left clueless and set off to Siruseri.

Actually I was looking forward to see the much hyped 'butterfly building' of TCS. My first impression(and still remains :P) was that it resembles a big stadium.

I felt like a bull fighter (Imagine a innocent meek one :) ) waiting for a raging bull to pounce on me. With my cell phone connectivity nil, I was left there helpless, trying to find the person I was supposed to meet that day.

Then met up finally, got into a project and got settled here in TCS. Life is going on smooth. The unbearable heat has become rather bearable now. With Mr.Rain visiting once in a while, it is ok now.

Glad to share my first blog. Hope you got to know little abt me.
Comments and suggestions are most welcome. :)
Thanks for ur tym.
